A man, believed to be in his 40s, has been killed by falling sheets of glass on Auckland's North Shore this evening.
Early indications were the man, who worked for a company dealing with large sheets of glass, was working inside a container where glass was stored, said Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers of police northern communications.
It appears some sheets of glass have crashed down, crushing him and causing fatal cuts.
The accident happened in the suburb of Wairau Valley about 6.20pm.
A couple of workmates were cut trying to rescue the man, Mr Rogers said.
Police and emergency services were still at the scene.
No details about the man's identity were available immediately.
