The final Ford Falcon will be known as model FG X, paying homage to the long-running Fairmont and Ghia nameplates.
The "X" signifies lineage to the original Falcon XK model in 1960 and through four generations of Falcons from the 1960s through to the 1990s, as well as more popular variants such as the XR, XW, XY, XA, XB, XD and XF.
Ford's final Falcons and Territorys will roll off the Australian production line in 2016 before closure.
