Firefighters from across Auckland were this afternoon battling a "substantial'' factory fire on Te Atatu Peninsula.
The fire started amongst a stack of pallets beside the factory, before spreading to the main building, fire service northern communications shift manager Paul Radden said.
"Just after 1pm today we received multiple calls regarding a fire just off Wharf Rd, Te Atatu Peninsula. We have got 14 trucks in attendance, two of which are aerial units.''
The first truck to arrive on the scene called in back-up when it became clear the fire was threatening the building, Mr Radden said.
Soon after, more back-up was called when the fire spread to the factory.
