An employment lawyer says Facebook is proving to be a growing tool for employers to check what their staff are up to on their sick leave.
Air New Zealand fired one of its flight attendants, Gina Kensington, after she took time off in March to look after her sister.
The airline has requested access to both her Facebook and bank accounts to verify her story.
Andrew Scott-Howman says the social networking site is an excellent resource for a court.
"Not only can often a picture tell a thousand words, but in deputes about when things happened Facebook quite often has a time stamp."
