Gosh, that word just slipped out on radio again.
It was the F-word.
And this time it came from the mouth of RadioLive presenter Martin Devlin.
His indiscretion yesterday came just a week after the MediaWorks-owned network broadcast an F-word littered interview on Radio Sport with Ma'a Nonu.
In a post-match sideline chat, Nonu expressed his excitement over his side, the Hurricanes, beating the Chiefs by using the F-word seven times in just a few sentences. For Devlin, it was also success that steered him to the F-bomb.
Former league star Brent Todd was congratulating Devlin on air over his success at the radio industry awards. "We're f**king delighted!" said Devlin.
Shortly after going off air, Devlin said it was Todd's praise that caused the word to slip out. However, he said most broadcasters were "reasonably foul-mouthed". "You just usually manage not to do it on air. You always think in the studio that your granny is in there."
Asked if he would offer an S-word to make up for the F-word, Devlin obliged. Then, with a wry laugh, he added that he managed to be sorry "every day of my life, to someone, for something".
