One of two woman who robbed a Rotorua dairy, using a mask to disguise her face, was caught out by her eyes.
A Rotorua District Court jury last week found Angelina Jade Haere, 29, guilty of assault with intent to rob and aggravated assault to avoid detection following the armed robbery of Sunset Pricecutter Superette in January.
The court heard Haere and an unidentified woman, heavily disguised and wearing black, went into the Sunset Road shop with a knife and an iron bar before threatening Manisha Kumar-Patel, who owns the shop with her husband Milesh Kumar, the Rotorua Daily Post reported.
When the emergency alarm sounded the two women fled the shop.
Mrs Kumar-Patel identified Haere from a montage of pictures she was shown by police, saying she recognised the eyes.
