Police hope this week to inspect the gate that fell and killed a 3-year-old at a Glen Eden kohanga reo on Friday.
Louis Schmidt-Peke died after the heavy gate on rollers fell on him at the language nest attached to the Hoani Waititi Marae.
His body has been taken to a marae in Paeroa in preparation for his funeral. Occupational Safety and Health is also investigating.
