People are being asked around the country how farms and vineyards can be saved from devastating weather.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will hold meetings next month seeking feedback on "building resilience" to extreme weather and natural disasters.
"Farmers, growers and foresters have always faced risk from adverse weather events," said Agriculture Minister Jim Anderton. "Now, however, we also face the impact of accelerated climate change."
