KEY POINTS:
A former Hamilton woman has been extradited from Australia for her alleged part in the kidnapping of a young boy three years ago.
The 36-year-old fled to Australia shortly after her alleged involvement with the abduction of the 6-year-old boy, who was lured from a library in Hamilton in 2006.
He was then taken by his mother, Kay Skelton, to his grandfather Dick Headley in Matauri Bay, sparking a five-month police search.
The woman was arrested by police in Queensland last week and detained before Hamilton detectives collected her and returned her to New Zealand on Monday.
The woman, who has interim name suppression, appeared in Hamilton District Court yesterday where she entered no plea.
She was released on bail but ordered to surrender her passport and will reappear in court this month.
The boy's father, Chris Jones, called her actions "bizarre". He said that had she co-operated the extradition process might have been unnecessary and the case might not have gone before a judge.
Headley, 70, and Skelton, 38, both pleaded guilty when they appeared in the High Court at Hamilton last year. They were sentenced to home detention. Three other people were also convicted for their part in the abduction.
