KEY POINTS:
A former North Shore student is due to appear in an Australian court today after being extradited from Auckland on a murder charge last night.
David Galloway, 19, was escorted out of New Zealand by two Australian policemen late yesterday following an appearance in the North Shore District Court earlier in the day.
At that appearance, defence lawyer Gary Gotlieb said Galloway, who was arrested at a house in Glenfield on Saturday, was not challenging the extradition order.
With that an emotional looking Galloway was escorted back into the cells where he remained until being flown to the Gold Coast with the Australian officers yesterday afternoon.
One of the Australian police officers told the Herald Galloway would appear at the Southport Magistrate's Court on the Gold Coast this morning charged with the murder of Daniel Thomas Dwyer.
It is alleged Galloway - with fellow Aucklander Malakai Lui, 19, and Australian man Dustin Johnston, 36 - robbed Mr Dwyer, a 46-year-old beneficiary, of money and cannabis, before beating him and leaving him tied up in his Queensland home last August.
Mr Dwyer was thought to have been dealing drugs to the trio.
Lui is already in Australian custody after having been flown there last month.
New Zealand police have been working with Australian police on the case since late last year but had no comment to make yesterday.
