The Nelson man arrested over Norfolk Island's first recorded murder in 150 years has been extradited to the island to be formally charged. Glenn Peter Charles McNeill, 28, landed on the island yesterday after leaving from Auckland to face a charge of murdering Sydney woman Janelle Patton.
McNeill, a father of two, was arrested in Nelson last week after Australian Federal Police detectives investigating the 2002 murder made what they claimed was a DNA breakthrough. He did not fight his extradition, which was granted by the Nelson District Court.
Escorting him on the flight were the officer who has led the investigation for almost four years, Detective Sergeant Bob Peters, and federal agent Tony Edmondson.
