The mother of a woman who died in a gas explosion in Auckland says she's relieved the family can now move on with their lives.
Watercare has been fined $81,000 and ordered to pay $315,000 in reparations, over the explosion which killed Philomen Gulland and injured several others.
The lawyer for Ms Gulland's mother, Hazel Armstrong, says it's a relief the process has come to a conclusion.
Ms Armstrong says the case highlights the dangers of working in confined spaces with gas.
"And just the importance of understanding the hazards. In this case I don't think people understood what all of the hazards were.''
