KEY POINTS:
Watching the audience is often the best part of going to a Yvonne Bennetti show - "celebrities" and Auckland socialites parade the area beside the runway as if they're in a fashion show of their own. It's like entering a totally different world.
Bennetti has very quickly find a niche for herself in the Auckland fashion market with her flashy frocks and signature coats.
The rich list love it, so much so that they didn't get at all mad that Bennetti kept them waiting for almost an hour to start the show. In fact, it seemed to only build the crowd's excitement.
I saw Candy Lane and Aja Rock clapping enthusiastically at outfits throughout the show (their favourite thing appeared to be a leather coat dress with bubble hem), and a tacky man sitting behind me clearly also found a lot that he loved, including a model in a sheer blouse with no bra.
This range was quite a dark one for Bennetti, with lots of little black dresses that will fly out the door of her Jervois Road store into the wardrobes of the ladies who lunch in Parnell and Remuera.
Her signature coats made several appearances as well, with military style buttons and zips, Gucci-esque hardware, houndstooth prints and more.
Leather and PVC also featured heavily, with leather pants, jackets, the aforementioned bubble dress and pencil skirts.
And there was lots of heavy black lace, a la Prada - although many in the front row predicted that would turn up before the show even began.
