KEY POINTS:
There was quite a buzz about the Nyne show, the first fashion week show from the Hamilton based label.
The phrase I heard before the show is that they're being marketed as a local Helmut Lang, because of their minimalist, deconstructed aesthetic.
Their debut collection at ANZFW, called Bring the Rain, featured plenty of simple pieces that worked well layered up - wet look vests, mesh singlets and dresses, acid wash over sized tees and plaid details.
The range was inspired by Transformers, which could be seen in industrial and robotic like details - eyelets, angular lines and leather look shine.
Flashing strobe lights at the start of the runway reinforced the theme.
The range may not have matched the hype, but the dark, black and urban inspired range will still no doubt find a place in the commercial New Zealand market.
