KEY POINTS:
Wellington based designer Laurie Foon returned to the Fashion Week runway with two ladylike collections inspired by all things past.
The younger Starfish label opened the show with a collection entitled Heirloom, looking to precious pieces that are passed on from generation to generation.
There were natural fabrics in grey, red, plaid, denim and the ubiquitous marigold, which has popped up in pretty much every show so far.
But it was the Laurie Foon show (the older, more grown up sister of the Starfish label) that rocked my boat.
The collection, called Amazing Rare Thing, came over all prim and ladylike, drawing inspiration from the ultimate Andy Warhol muse, Edie Sedgwick.
While not a particularly original muse, Foon managed to inject the 60s vibe into pieces with Peter Pan collars, paisley prints and oversized buttons. Hats in a 1940s-style reinforced the ladylike vibe.
Favourite piece? A simple yet gorgeous grey knit top with lace Peter Pan collar.
Foon is a champion of eco fashion, and it's great to see wearable, interesting (if relatively simple) and sustainable fashion that is actually, well, fashionable.
