KEY POINTS:
Designer Michael Pattison is a bit of a showman - before turning to clothing, he modelled, worked as a drag queen and even did a stint as Bachelor of the Year.
During the first showcase of labels represented by local fashion PR agency, Coco, Pattison put those grandstanding skills to good use.
His section of the runway show, featuring three labels, started with an evil, stilt-walking clown and his henchmen, a horny dwarf and ended with Pattison himself, dressed in ringmaster's clothes and whipping his models down to the end of the runway for a jolly good spot of posing.
The clothes themselves were fairly standard. Often you cannot imagine anyone but the flamboyant Pattison himself wearing his own menswear - brilliant red velvet jeans are not standard attire down at the pub on Saturday night. But there was plenty of more conservative fare to choose from in this case - it was really only the bizarre carnival vibe that was overly creative.
The same cannot be said for the other two labels that sandwiched Pattison's segment, Ooby Ryn and Sheryl May.
These two fairly conservative design houses only demonstrated a catalogue of wearable, if slightly outmoded and conservative, outfits that are most likely to appeal to those who don't care about fashion show reviews anyway.
