KEY POINTS:
The French are rather good at people-movers - in fact, they invented the concept - and generally shine when it comes to diesel power plants.
So the new 1.9-litre turbo diesel version of the Scenic should be pretty special.
Previously only available with a petrol engine in New Zealand, the Scenic dCi has a 96kW/250Nm engine and four-speed automatic gearbox. Combined fuel consumption is 7.1 litres per 100km. It costs $44,990.
The fuel filler flap has a built-in cap, while the neck of the filler has an anti-splash feature. Standard safety features include six airbags and four pretensioned seatbelts.
The anti-lock braking system includes electronic brake force distribution and emergency brake assist - but no stability control.
The front passenger seat can be folded flat to provide a table top, while the three individual rear seats can be removed separately to provide a variety of different cargo capacity combinations.
