KEY POINTS:
A expatriate New Zealander, visiting for a fishing trip, won $7.7 million worth of prizes in this week's Big Wednesday draw.
The man, who lives in Australia, bought the ticket during a holiday in Taupo.
He checked his ticket while eating breakfast in a cafe yesterday, after overhearing people talking about the lottery, The Dominion Post reported.
"So I checked my ticket, realised I was the winner, and then felt numb and a bit shaky."
"I came for a boys' fishing weekend but ended up with a much bigger catch," he said.
The lucky tourist collected $5.5 million in cash, a $250,000 American Express Platinum card, $250,000 worth of travel, an Aston Martin Vantage V8, an Audi A7, a Rayglass Legend boat, a $500,000 bach and a $750,000 apartment.
