A man has been jailed for at least 14 years for the execution-style murder of his former friend.
Joseph Rewiri of Rotorua shot Peter Franklyn three times outside the Rotorua International Stadium in May 2006.
The last and fatal shot was point blank in the head.
Justice Rodney Hansen said today that the 39-year-old carried out a cold-blooded execution of a defenceless man.
He said Rewiri did not act in self defence as he claimed, and was in fact the aggressor.
