A former New Zealand sports star is under investigation for alleged embezzlement of up to $500,000.
The man has been the focus of a police inquiry as well as investigations by his former employer, the Herald on Sunday understands.
Allegations centre around falsified documents and proceeds of up to $500,000, which were used on a North Island property.
Yesterday, the former sports star said he was in the dark about any inquiries, despite there being an official court search document in relation to the case.
"I don't know anything about any investigation," said the man. "This is the first conversation about anything like that, so I want to find out more. This is not a have or anything is it?
"You have blown me away. "
