KEY POINTS:
The man at the centre of the latest Millie Elder arrest is the troubled son of one of Auckland's most prominent and wealthy families.
Daniel Moyes, 22, part of the Moyes car empire family, told police that drugs and drug paraphernalia found at his Kohimarama home last Monday belonged to Elder and she was continuing to use drugs while on bail.
Police are investigating whether further drugs charges will be laid against Elder, 19, a former model and the daughter of broadcaster Paul Holmes.
She appeared in the Auckland District Court on Thursday after spending two nights in police cells for alleged breaches of her bail conditions, and will be sentenced on drugs charges next month. Last year Elder told the Herald on Sunday she had a $1000-a-week drug habit and was high even while appearing as a model on the TV gameshow, Deal or No Deal.
Police documents describe Moyes as a recovering meth user with a significant criminal history. He "associates with known criminals who are heavy meth users and commit crimes to fuel their habits", according to the documents.
Daniel Moyes said he was not "the bad guy" for blaming the drugs on Elder. "I'm a very nice guy ... I'm not the one that's all over the news on drug charges."
Moyes and Elder had a brief relationship early this year but an application by Elder to move in with Moyes was turned down. Police documents state that being bailed into an environment "in which she will be associating with people, whom she should not be associating with, is asking for trouble". The documents also state that Paul Holmes did not want his daughter bailed to Moyes' house.
Elder was not at Moyes' home when it was searched on Monday by police who allegedly found a bag of methamphetamine drugs and a pipe. Moyes told police they belonged to Elder but Elder, who is undergoing twice-weekly drug tests through the Capri rehabilitation centre, denies she knew anything about the drugs.
Daniel Moyes is the son of Allan Moyes, who became known as the face of TV advertisements for the Moyes Panmure caryard. It is believed the family has struggled for some time with Daniel's addictions.
When the Herald on Sunday approached Allan Moyes at his multimillion-dollar clifftop home in St Heliers yesterday, he declined to comment. His former wife Alison, who lives at Takapuna, could not be contacted. She owns the Kohimarama house where Daniel lives.
Elder had been working at the Walker & Hall jewellery store in downtown Auckland since she first faced drug charges last year and is now employed as a PA in Ponsonby.
Friends told the Herald on Sunday that her relationship with Moyes lasted only two weeks but the two have known each other for five years.
Elder was arrested last week after an off-duty police officer spotted her at the SkyCity casino with a woman she is not allowed to associate with under her bail conditions. But Elder's friends say she was at the casino buying champagne for a friend's 21st, that she did not drink any alcohol at the event and and left as soon as she saw the woman.
She is now bailed to her mother's house on Waiheke Island with a midnight-to-7am curfew. Police told the Herald on Sunday they are not confident charges will be laid against Elder as they are relying on fingerprint tests on the pipe allegedly found at Moyes' house. Elder's lawyer Jesse Soondram said Elder denied the drug-taking utensils were hers.
"She was not at the house at the time, it was an associate's house, she was unaware of the presence of the drugs there, she certainly wasn't there," he said outside court on Thursday. Elder's rehabilitation was going well, and she did not use drugs, Soondram said.
