Former All Blacks winger Va'aiga Tuigamala says he would consider standing for Parliament on the National Party list in 2011 if asked.
Tuigamala and fellow All Black Michael Jones turned out on the campaign trail last year to support Prime Minister John Key, an unusual move given the usual strong support from Pacific Island people for Labour.
Tuigamala said yesterday while opening a gym in west Auckland that he would consider a political career if asked.
"If that road crosses my path then I would be stupid not to consider it, stupid not to look at the pros and cons and what benefit it could be to my people," he told the Sunday News.
Tuigamala said he wanted to encourage people "to be a benefit, rather than on a benefit".
