The statement from Kerry Macdonald, Ewen's father
Marlene and I are giving our full support to our son Ewen through this awful time and events.
As parents, when your child falls over you pick them up, give them a cuddle and rub the pain away with love and kind words.
We want to do just that but can't in this instance although we will always love him dearly and still feel as close to him as ever. We have Anna and the grandkids to love and support through this with all our resources, energy and ability.
Anna, Marlene and the kids do a lot together and we must, for the kids' sake, keep life as normal and as positive as possible for them.
The whole Guy and Macdonald families are all very close and interactive so we are supporting each other with unconditional love.
Whilst Marlene and I have emotions of love, sorrow and guilt, our pain is eased by the help and support we are able to give and receive from both families.
Our hearts go out to the Guys, especially Kylee, and we have all been together over the last two days to comfort each other and ease each others' pain and confusion.
We hope to be able to get to see Ewen in a week's time. The truth and facts are keenly sought by us all.
Marlene and I are confused and bewildered but have received fantastic support from friends, family, neighbours, work and business colleagues.
The police have been supportive and there for us in this unique situation of bringing a charge against our son but still mindful that we are an integral part of the larger Guy/Macdonald family.
It has required great tact on their part as we are all victims of these events but none so great as Scott.
