KEY POINTS:
An insane killer from a top security Auckland psychiatric unit has given evidence about allegations a nurse had sex with him while she worked there.
The woman, who has interim name suppression, has denied professional misconduct.
The man, who has name suppression, testified at the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal in Auckland yesterday. All details of his evidence were suppressed.
The man was a patient at the Mason Clinic after being found not guilty of murder on the grounds of insanity.
Yesterday the tribunal was told how the relationship allegedly began with kissing and cuddling and progressed to full sex when the nurse accompanied him on his "day leave" from the clinic.
Yesterday, on the second day of the hearing, Audrey Walsh, service manager at the Mason Clinic, said staff were a "bit scared" of the nurse because she was assertive and articulate. She was very confident of her Maoritanga and would assert her views strongly.
Ms Walsh said the nurse had created a huge risk to herself, other patients, staff and the public. The hearing continues today.
