Work on the Charles Rooking Carter statue soon to grace Millennium Park is progressing, with the Auckland-based casting company recently creating a scale model and a full-sized mould of the head of the statue.
Carterton Lions Club secretary and project organiser Allan Renall said he was pleased with the work so far and feedback from people who had viewed the initial photos had been highly positive.
"Everyone is totally impressed."
In several months' time, Mr Renall and other organisers will travel to Auckland to give their final seal of approval before the 1.8-metre statue is cast in bronze.
The statue of Carterton's founding father is due to be unveiled alongside a revamp of Millennium Park in February or March next year.
