Estate agent chief link in P chain, police claim

Thousands of dollars found buried in ammunition tin on Far North farm.

A real estate agent is alleged to be the central link in a drug-dealing enterprise which supplied methamphetamine throughout the country.

Brett Campbell Bogue, 42, became the target of a covert investigation after his name came up in a separate inquiry into the sale of drugs in Napier called Operation Spark.

Police believed he was supplying the Class-A drug to a distribution chain in the Hawkes Bay region but a decision was made for the Organised and Financial Crime Agency New Zealand to start a second investigation into Bogue.

He and eight others were arrested this month in Operation Enzone, during which $100,000 was discovered buried in a paddock and millions of dollars of property was seized.

Bogue has no previous criminal convictions, drives a late-model Audi and collects Champagne.

He is listed as a real estate agent for Ray White in Orewa, Auckland, where his work profile states he is a keen sportsman, with previous experience as a builder and in the tourism industry.

But the police say he is now a major methamphetamine dealer who arranged deals in Whangarei, Auckland, Napier and Wellington.

Bogue faces serious charges including multiple counts of supply, offering to supply and conspiracy to supply methamphetamine.

A loaded pistol, $54,000 and nearly 240g of P were allegedly found in his home when police arrested him.

The police allege Bogue mostly supplied the drug in ounce amounts (28g) at a wholesale level, which in turn was sold to others by the gram or 0.1 gram amounts at street level.

The methamphetamine was allegedly manufactured by Frank William Murray, 45, at a farm in Herekino, in the Far North.

That was where $100,000 was buried in a rusty ammunition tin hidden in thick undergrowth.

Three properties worth about $2 million have been seized under the Criminal Proceeds Recovery Act, as well as quad bikes, diggers and tractors.

Meanwhile, police want to find Curtis Yates, 48, as part of their Operation Enzone investigation.

Yates is Maori, with a solid build and 1.83m tall. He is transient by nature but has contacts in Kaitaia, Whangarei, Taupo, and Wellington.

Yates is known to be unpredictable and should not be approached.
