The Buller man who escaped from police custody on Saturday night will spend a month behind bars awaiting his next court appearance.
Brad Colin Kerr, 26, of Carters Beach near Westport, was remanded in custody until November 24 when he appeared in the Westport District Court yesterday.
Community Constable Paul Sampson said Kerr had voluntarily turned himself in to the police.
Four more charges were laid against Kerr yesterday when he appeared in the Westport court.
Sampson said two charges of assaulting a person with a blunt instrument and threatening to kill related to an incident on September 10.
Another charge was for reckless driving while the fourth was for escaping from police custody.
