KEY POINTS:
Two escaped prisoners have been recaptured by armed police.
Five days of freedom ended for Shaun Staples and John Poaka late last night when they were found at a house in Bell Block, New Plymouth.
They will appear in the New Plymouth District Court this morning.
The pair got away from Montgomery House in Hamilton where they were attending a programme prior to being returned to prison. They were both convicted of serious crimes and had Mongrel Mob connections.
Police say charges may follow in relation to people who helped or harboured the escapees.
Another prisoner, 25-year -old Nicholas Anthony Costello, who got away from a minimum security unit at Waikeria Prison, is still on the run.
