Waikato are appealing for sightings of a possibly armed gang member with an extensive criminal history who escaped custody from Huntly Police Station last week.
Sergeant Neil Mouncher of the Huntly Police said today Mongrel Mob member, Clayton Veitch WILSON, was being walked to an escort van at the back of the station on Wednesday night when he managed to escape.
"Wilson has an extensive criminal history and currently has 15 active charges out against him.
"He is known to have access to firearms and a propensity for violence.
"Police urge anyone who sees Wilson not to approach him but to ring 111 immediately."
Mr Mouncher warned any associates who might be harbouring Wilson that they themselves could face criminal charges.
He asked anyone with any information on Wilson's whereabouts to contact Huntly Police on 07 8287560 or alternatively information could be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers crimeline; 0800 555111.
