Eric Young gone from TVNZ late news

News presenter Eric Young's job with TVNZ's late-night news show Tonight has ended after months of speculation.

TVNZ news and current affairs chief Bill Ralston says Cameron Bennett will fill in for two weeks.

It was reported last month that Mr Young had a stress-related illness stemming from the arrival of a new producer, David Lomas, on the show in February.

A TVNZ spokesperson declined to comment on whether Young's absence resulted from his replacement as producer.
