The woman who was told she was not needed as back-up to the New Zealand equestrian team is bitter about the way things have worked out.
Heelan Tompkins was the only reserve for the equestrian team however the selectors decided not to take her and her horse Glengarick to Sydney.
New Zealand will only have two horses involved in the individual three-day event competition instead of the original three after the withdrawal of Andrew Nicholson.
Ms Tompkins says she was quite prepared to pay her own way to the games but feels the selectors owed her a trip after the preparation she put in.
