Delayed confessions from EQC...it got it wrong. The commission has announced plans to re-inspect a number of drainage claims.
It currently has two-and-a-half thousand awaiting settlement. When asked why the inspections needed to be re-done, General manager of customer and claims Trish Keith told Newstalk ZB it was to provide customers with the most up-to-date information available.
Labour cried foul, claiming EQC was just trying to cover up the fact that the initial inspections were dodgy. When pressed a second time by Newstalk ZB, Trish Keith admitted the initial inspections weren't up to scratch. She says customers should have confidence that due diligence will be followed this time round.
