KEY POINTS:
Thousands of people are expected at a rally this afternoon in Auckland to push for increased work rights and higher wages.
Organised by the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union, the rally gets underway at 1pm at the TelstraClear Pacific Stadium in Manukau.
Union members will vote on the EPMU's work rights checklist, which lays out the minimum standards it expects from all political parties this election. The union says the only way people can keep up with the rising cost of living is through decent wage increases and that is not possible without a strong framework of worker rights.
