KEY POINTS:
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) president Don Pryde has been selected as Labour's candidate for Clutha-Southland.
Mr Pryde, 49, lost out to party official Clare Curran in getting the nomination for the Dunedin South electorate held by MP David Benson-Pope.
The Dunedin-based electrical technician, and father of three, was first elected as a representative on the EPMU's national executive in 1994 and has served as its national president since 2005.
The Clutha-Southland seat is held by National MP Bill English.
