An English teen will pay $25,000 reparation and serve 300 hours' community work after killing two people and injuring two friends in a car crash.
George Fredric Skofic, 18, had pleaded guilty to five charges of careless driving causing injury or death and was sentenced in Hamilton District Court today.
Skofic, on his OE and tutoring at St Paul's Collegiate in Hamilton, was driving when his car crossed the centre line and collided head on with another near Piarere, 17km southwest of Matamata, on February 20, the Waikato Times reported.
Tauranga residents Rose-Ana Leigh Mitchell-Kingi, 21, and Eruera Eriata Munroe, 22, were killed, while Mr Munroe's sister, Haley Munroe, 26, and her partner Dylan Cleaver, 31, were injured.
Skofic's English friends, Henry Ripper and Anthony Tysome, both 19, and also on OEs, were injured in the crash.
Skofic accepted full responsibility for the crash and told the court in May he was "devastated" by it.
