An English teen, in New Zealand on his OE, has admitted killing two people and injuring four others in a car crash.
George Fredric Skofic, 18, pleaded guilty in Hamilton District Court yesterday to five charges of careless driving causing injury or death, the Waikato Times reported.
Skofic, a tutor at Hamilton's St Paul's Collegiate, was driving when his car crossed the centre line and collided head on with another near Piarere, 17km southwest of Matamata, on February 20.
Tauranga residents Rose-Ana Leigh Mitchell-Kingi, 21, and Eruera Eriata Munroe, 22, were killed, while Mr Munroe's sister, Haley Munroe, 26, and her partner Dylan Cleaver, 31, were injured.
Skofic told the court he was "devastated" and wanted to meet the victims' families.
"I hope I will be able at some stage to personally express my regret to all those I have injured and the families of the deceased."
"I was intending to return to my home in the United Kingdom at the end of my year-long tutorship [in June], but will now defer that," he said.
Skofic will be sentenced in July.
