Frank and Nippy, zookeeper and animal, human and gibbon: Two of Wellington Zoo's most beloved members have celebrated 55 years of unstinting service together.
Frank Coles, 64, a former head zookeeper at the zoo, and Nippy, the 57-year-old gibbon, have known each other since 1949.
They have both set longevity records. Mr Coles is the longest-serving city council employee and Nippy is thought to be the oldest gibbon in captivity.
