KEY POINTS:
Genevieve and Kerrin Revell, nearing the end of their year-long fundraising expedition around New Zealand, arrived in Auckland this week.
The husband and wife, with their horse Doof pulling the sulky, have travelled more than 5000km to raise money for CanTeen.
The horse-and-cart journey has raised more than $26,000.
Auckland City Mayor John Banks has donated a further $1000 to the organisation, which supports young people living with cancer.
The Revells, both Aucklanders, enjoyed the slightly damp ride along the waterfront on Thursday.
"The rain has been a rarity on the whole this trip, so it was a nice change today," said Kerrin.
Doof (which is "food" spelled backwards) was also taken to Queen St and the Sky Tower.
"He is quite comfortable in the big city but enjoys sightseeing far less than eating a carrot," said Genevieve.
The couple's journey finishes at Cape Reinga on May 3.
