A reader writes: "Fifty years ago, when my friend and I skirted around Curries Milk Bar in Queen St trying to be seen but not seen, we often heard or hoped to hear the chant: 'Hubba Hubba Ding Ding, Sister You've Got Everything!'." PIP van Duyn writes: "In the mid-late 1940s I came home from primary school singing the latest ditty: 'Hubba Hubba Reidrubber ... Stops a Girl From Having a Bubba'. I was probably all of 10 years old and no doubt had no idea what it was about. My father thought it was funny but mother (blaming it all on the Yanks during the war) was not amused. For those old enough to remember, Reidrubber was a big manufacturing concern which I think closed in the early 1960s."
