Boy racers are not a new problem, as reader Peter Mahoney of Mangere points out. The publication Untold Stories of Onehunga records the initial use of the first Mangere bridge was not without its own problems. "Young Mangere tearaways and several young gentlemen from Onehunga took to racing along its length, three horses abreast. The year 1875 saw the first prosecution for reckless riding."

Weird Hollywood superstition
1: Spanish movie star Penelope Cruz hopes the more times she dies on screen, the longer she'll live. "I don't care if I die in every movie," she told reporters in Cannes at the weekend. Cruz most recently appears in the film Chromophobia ,in which she plays a prostitute who dies of cancer. Other films in which her character died, or at least may have died amid some ambiguity, include Open Your Eyes, All about My Mother and Vanilla Sky. "It's true that I die a lot of times on screen," she said. "Some people say it extends your own [life], so I hope it's true."
