Rebecca Reidy, from New Plymouth, serves during the semifinals of the Beach Volleyball Open at the Stanley St tennis centre in Auckland yesterday. About 2000 fans - one of the annual event's biggest crowds - saw Reidy and teammate Susan Blundell go down 21-19, 21-13 to the German pair of Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig, who went on to win the final.
