A car that ploughed into the side of a Howick home came to rest metres away from where a family was sleeping early yesterday.
It is understood the 21-year-old driver failed to stop at the Ridge Rd intersection at about 1.45am.
The car, which witnesses said was going at nearly twice the speed limit, went across Ridge Rd, narrowly missing a police car, and through a wooden fence before becoming embedded in the house's living room.
Neither the family nor the driver was hurt.
