Saturday saw the Mahunga men's interclub teams in action against Featherston, with the 7th division at home and the 11th division playing at Featherston.
In the match at home, the Mahunga team emerged with a 12 to 2 win, a result that has Mahunga at the head of the table by six points after two rounds.
In the match at Featherston, the 11th division team went one better that the other team by recording a 13 to 1 win, which also leaves Mahunga at the top of the table, but with a 10-point lead over their closest challengers.
The club competition on Saturday was a stableford round, and it was Nikaya Graham who again produced the day's best score, an impressive 50 points. Robin Britt was the runner-up with 47 points, while Regan Fricker took third place on 41 points.
The Makes Cents nearest to the pin went to Robin Britt, the Mitre 10 one on the third hole to Martin Andrew, while Noeline Stevenson took both the McAuley's Transport one on the sixth hole and the Pak'N Save Masterton one on the eighth, Nooroa Rota the Alister Bruce Affordable Sheds one on the 10th hole and Joe Graham the Dinah and Deb Keats Professionals Real Estate one on the 17th. Nikaya Graham took the All Teed Up one on the fourth.
Holes in two were registered by Nikaya Graham and Robin Britt.
On Tuesday, the veterans played in the first round of their Haddon Donald trophy competition. The best of the ladies was Irene Phelps, with 37 points having her at the top of the first group. Judith O'Connor was runner-up on 35 points, followed by Nooroa Rota and Jean Bayly on 32 points.
In the second group, Noeline Turley led the way on 32 points, with Betty Loader and Cilva Richmond both finishing with 30 points.
In the men's first group, it was Bevan Hefferen who took the day's honours with 38 points to head off Alan Eagle on 37 and Graeme Bound on 35. The second group fell to Ross Ireland on 30 points, with Roger Stenton the next best on 28, followed by Bruce Wilson and Trevor Oliver on 26 points.
The ladies' nearest to the pins went to Jocelyn Parker on the third hole and Jean Bayly on the sixth, while the men's ones went to John Mudgway on the sixth and Meki Lauvi on the seventh.
Saturday has the men playing the semifinals of the Dove Trophy and the Nicol Cup. The draw for the matches to be played follows. The club competition on Saturday will be a par round.
Sunday has the club involved in the Wairarapa team stableford competition at Eketahuna, with the tee off at noon. The ladies' competition for the Julie Murphy Jug will be played at Martinborough on Sunday. For those at home, the club competition will be a medal round.
