Emergency sirens in Lower Hutt will be tested for two minutes at 10am today, the Hutt City Council says.
The test would check the system was working and help residents become familiar with the siren, council emergency management controller Paul Nickalls said.
The siren would most likely be used to indicate a tsunami or potential serious flooding.
This week was national Disaster Awareness Week.
