A medical team flying from Auckland to Wellington to collect a sick child last night touched down to a full emergency response.
Fire, police and ambulance rushed to Wellington Airport about 6.30pm after pilots reported a fire indication warning light had gone on in the cockpit.
On board were two pilots, a crew member and two medical staff on their way to transport the child from Hutt Hospital to Starship children's hospital in Auckland.
The plane landed safely on one engine at 6.38pm.
Life Flight spokesman Dave Greenberg said the emergency had not prevented the child receiving medical treatment.
A Wellington-based second Life Flight plane took the child and medical team back to Auckland.
