Concerned parents, students, teachers, friends and past pupils of Corran School are holding an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss the school's future.
The group believes the school's board of trustees did not act in the best interests of the school when it decided to merge with Saint Kentigern College for financial reasons.
It believes other options have not been fully investigated, and the meeting will outline the possible actions available.
Spokeswoman and parent Kimberley Dixon said Corran was the only independent girls' school in Auckland that offered the Cambridge International Examinations.
"It is imperative that the trustees consider options that fit with the academic excellence and ethos of our school," she said.
Kirsty Roberts, whose daughter Jessica is in Year 8 and has been at the school since Year 2, said if the family had known the school was in trouble, it would have helped.
Former pupil Trish Pyne chose to send her daughter to Corran School from 1994 to 2004 because of that small family-like atmosphere and because the Cambridge curriculum suited their daughter.
The meeting will be held at 7pm in the College Rifles clubrooms in Haast St, Remuera.
