Paradise internet customers should prepare themselves for lengthy waits for emails.
The ISP's server began running very slowly on Boxing Day and it could be several days before everything is back to normal.
TelstraClear spokesman Matthew Bolland said a problem with the email processing software has coincided with a 250 per cent increase in the volume of mail going through the server.
He said technicians are working around the clock to fix the problem, but it is likely to be days before emails are coming through normally.
He said people expecting an urgent message should arrange for an alternative way to get it, as it could take more than a day for mail to get through at the moment.
Matthew Bolland added he hopes to have an update for customers on Monday.
