Dolly is a sizeable girl, but she can blame that on her genes rather than eating too many carrots.
She is a Flemish giant cross-rabbit, and everything on her comes in XXL, including her big feet. A stray, she was brought in from Papatoetoe on December 30.
Animal attendant Nicole Rushbrook said people come in quite regularly to look at her but no one has taken her home yet.
Her dewlap may be part of the reason. A dewlap is a naturally occurring fold of skin under her neck, which is designed to hide new-born babies from predators. She is a large and loveable lady, eager for a new home.
Her village number is 89348.
Yesterday's featured pet, a labrador, was adopted to a bed and breakfast in Ponsonby.
* Every day over the holidays the Herald is featuring a pet that needs an owner. To help, call the SPCA on (09) 256-7300 and quote its village number.
