Convicted paedophile Peter Ellis has returned home following a heart attack.
Ellis, 47, was struck by chest pain earlier this month and was taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital.
In 1993, Ellis was found guilty of abusing children in his care at the Christchurch Civic Creche. One complainant later said she had lied, and the relevant convictions were thrown out.
He served two-thirds of a 10-year jail sentence and was released in 2000.
A petition for an inquiry into his case has been with the Justice and Electoral Select Committee for 21 months.
Ellis' mother Lesley Ellis blamed his illness on stress from waiting for the committee report, expected in late July.
