Wairarapa College cricketers touring Australia have completed the Brisbane leg of their trip.
The first encounter was against Southport School, last season's Brisbane private schools champions.
Despite a promising start when the hosts were on the ropes at 64-8 before getting through to a total of 178, Wairarapa College was unable to chase down the 179 needed for victory.
Daniell Ingham top-scored with a resolute 89 after notching up 3-5 from 8 overs with the ball. Oliver Burt, Scott Wilkinson, Quentin McKenna and Martin Reisima were other wicket takers.
On Tuesday Wairarapa College played Brisbane Anglican School. Batting first, the home side were in trouble at 32-2 before recovering to 126-3, at which point a tropical downpour sent the players scurrying for shelter.
Chasing a revised total of 125, Wairarapa College were 20-0 before the heavens opened once more, forcing the game to be abandoned. The side has now moved on to Sydney, for its third game against Knox Grammar.
